Reading the fine print

It turns out that one of my sites isn’t working as it should be, and it comes that it just started happening after a major outage at my host, asmallorange. It annoys me to see such a great hosting company having a problem like this, at the same time they have sent out no warning of this happening or any explanation as to why it happened. I’m not a big fan of big hosting companies like dreamhost.com that offer services that oversell but at least they update all of their users about the status of their servers on a blog that they own.
This has continually happened, my own pinging service has them rated of having uptime of on 99.7% which isn’t bad, nor good. Of course this could be underestimating the problem because it doesn’t monitor my site every minute of the day, rather it checks on a couple hour basis so I could be looking at hosting that is failing to keep their guarantee. What do you think I should do?
